Urodynamic and Incontinence Unit
Welcome to our urodynamic unit, where Registered Nurse Charlene Uys will be conducting your test.
At our unit, we strive to deliver excellence of care to our patients and make you feel at home in a situation that might already have compromised your confidence.
In our incontinence unit, patients are helped with self-intermittent catheterisation and other treatments to help improve their quality of life. Our Urodynamic unit is mobile, and studies are done at all our practice hospitals.
What Is Urodynamics?
Urodynamics testing measures how well the bladder, sphincters, and urethra store and release urine. Most urodynamics testing focus on the bladder’s ability to hold urine and empty it steadily and completely. These tests help diagnose patients who have lower urinary tract symptoms such as:
- frequent urination
- painful urination
- sudden, strong urges to urinate (overactive bladder)
- problems starting a urine stream
- problems emptying the bladder completely
- recurrent urinary tract infections
